Wellpoint along with Oracle Energy participated in the Brazilian bank process to sell its 40% stake in Petrobras Oil & Gas BV (POGBV). In 2016 Wellpoint offered $l.2 billion for the 40% stake. Oracle was run by Darrell Mc Kenna, former Chief Operating Officer of Kosmos Energy along with its Managing Director Peter Francis formerly of ExxonMobil.

The Company received a formal and private correspondence from NNPC to explore the possibility of acquiring and enhancing the production of OML 119. The proposal also came with the opportunity to re-structure debt of approximately $2.6 billion. What started as a private transaction was converted to a public process led by Wood Mackenzie. The company made an offer of $860 million and a debt re-structuring of $1.2 billion.
